HUMANITARIAN SITUATION – January 2020

The war coalition countries, led by Saudi Arabia and UAE, have violated all the rights and freedoms of the people of the province of Al-Mahara province, by undermining the rule of law and violating national sovereignty, which has harmed social peace. Among those rights that have been violated are:

  • Violation of the right to physical and moral integrity and the right to freedom of expression.
  • The right to peaceful assembly and expression of opinion.
  • Violating the right of the fishermen by depriving thousands of them from their only source of livelihood, as the soldiers of the coalition countries directly attacked the fishermen.

The National Salvation Government, represented by Ministry of Human Rights and the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, handed over the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in the presence of representatives of the UNICEF office in Yemen, 64 children who were recruited by the countries of War Coalition on Yemen, to take care of them through rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

The Saudi Coalition’s imposed siege, arbitrary restrictions and the unlawful act of preventing and prohibiting flights on Sana’a International Airport have resulted in depriving 350,000 civilian citizens of obtaining immediate medical treatment abroad, preventing 100,000 civilians from returning back to Yemen, and denying millions of their right to travel and move abroad.

The absence of any response from the humanitarian organizations and the United Nations human rights bodies despite the appeals and demands to lift the comprehensive blockade on the Republic of Yemen in general and the Durayhimi District in Hodeidah Governorate in particular, and to end the human tragedy that Durayhimi people are exposed to.
