POLITICAL PREFACE – February 2022

  1. It is well known that the United Nations, which was established after the World War II, aimed in its Charter at ending the use of force in international disputes and obligated states to settle their disputes through diplomatic means (third party mediation, conciliation, arbitration, international judiciary, etc.). It has also prohibited the right to use weapons, except in legitimate self-defense when a country is exposed to armed aggression by another country. Moreover, the UN Security Council has the right to take measures up to military action under Chapter VII when international peace and security is threatened.
  2. Despite all these well-known facts, the UN Security Council, in its approach to the file of the unjust war on Yemen, deliberately violated its principles and legal rules from the first moment of declaring this unjust war on Yemen by issuing Resolution No. 2216 in April 2015, just a few days after triggering this war. This resolution has ignored the existence of a case of verified aggression by other State/States against a Member State of the United Nations under the pretext of restoring the alleged legitimacy of a particular group in a political regime over the other remaining groups in the society.
  3. Despite the fact that this alleged legitimacy is a sheer lie and in violation of the constitution and political consensus, it remains an internal affair that does not affect world peace at all. On the other hand, the UN Security Council failed to fulfill its responsibilities to stop these resolutions and punish the real perpetrators according to its powers. Rather, it was and is still complicit with the perpetrators to the extent that it participates in the aggression through all its repeated statements and resolutions, the latest of which was Resolution No. (2624) issued this month in February 21, 2022. Such a biased resolution reinforced the same complicity and identification with the countries of War Coalition against Yemen, giving no attention to the war crimes, crimes against humanity and particularly the Aggression crime. All of these crimes have been committed and verified according to the reports of experts affiliated with the same Council and other experts affiliated with the Human Rights Watch Council. Pursuant to the UN Charter, all of these crimes require the UN Security Council to refer the lords of that unjust war to the international criminal courts as war criminals.
  4. Motivated by the Gulf Black Gold (Oil) and intimidated by partners in this war, i.e. the US and UK, the UN Security Council, instead, turns a blind eye to this unjust aggression. Furthermore, it denounces, with great impartiality and denial of justice and values, the legitimate right of the Yemeni people to self-defense against this brutal aggression.
  5. Thus, when will the world free and humanitarian conscience wake up to put an end to such farces and stand by the truth and justice?
