- As the world is happily celebrating the end of the year 2021 with lights and fireworks, the Saudi-led Coalition of War on Yemen insists on ending the year with an unprecedented escalation through US-Saudi warplanes’ bombardment of neighborhoods at the center of the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a City) to light up its sky with the flames of explosive bombs and missiles that wreaked havoc on buildings, hospitals (Al-Alia’a International Hospital & Magrabi Eye Hospital), streets (Zubairy St.) and public bridges (Seventy Square Bridge), resulting in many causalities. These countries were able to put pressure on the OHCHR to withdraw its team of experts from Yemen, even though it has been the only international mechanism for monitoring violations of the war on Yemen.
- Thus, the US and Saudi Arabia have created a scene of murder in Yemen without international control; and this coincides with a wide media frenzy working to twist facts and mislead the international public opinion.
- In addition to such a travesty, these countries keep consistently on passing their crimes by stating that they are in conformity with the provisions of International Humanitarian Law, which has been manipulated to allow the killing of all social groups with no exception. Therefore, the 1949 Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians has turned into a convention regulating the killing of civilians according to the perception and interpretations of those who kill and target civilian objects, residential neighborhoods, cities, airports, ports, hospitals, schools and homes, which, according to impartial international reports, have resulted in thousands of civilian victims, and which in turn entails the leaders of those countries to be brought to justice as war criminals.
- Nevertheless, Yemen and its glorious people continued to show the most wonderful examples of heroism, sacrifice and victory, despite the influence of Gulf money that purchased the attitudes of most of the international community who have fallen as direct participants, indirectly involved participants or silenced spectators. However, the Yemenis, with a strong will, have been able to prevent this deadly US military machine from achieving any victories, except for their victims of the children, women and the elderly. Meanwhile, the wise political leadership did not close the door before any political solutions that respond to the just demands of the Yemeni people for their rights to live free, independent and sovereign over their resources and decisions without Western or Eastern custody, while maintaining good relations with various countries of the world.
- Now, is it time for the free people in the world to stand up with a brave voice and take a more active stance against this futile and unjust war?
