- With an inclination towards peace and in the hope of alleviating the human sufferings that the Yemeni people are experiencing due to the US-Saudi siege on them, Sana’a government accepted the declaration of the diminished truce, even though it has merely opened a little door for the entry of a small number of oil derivatives vessels, and only two flights per week from Yemen’s main airport in the capital, Sana’a, to Jordan and Egypt.
- Despite the inhuman atrocity resulting from the imposed siege on a defenseless people numbering more than thirty million through US battleships and warplanes moved by Saudi-Emirati money as part of a futile war, the Yemeni people were able to defeat them militarily. However, they resorted to an immoral, illegal, and inhuman siege with a view to deterring the strong determination of the Yemenis and make them accept the return of the intervening guardianship of the US and Saudi embassies over Yemen.
- The return of such guardianship is extremely impossible, especially after the Yemeni army and its Popular Committees had made such sacrifices and victories.
- Despite this inadequate two-month truce, which Yemen has accepted in order to give the peace sponsors an opportunity to progress in their efforts more effectively, the Saudi-led and US-backed Coalition failed in the first and most important term of the truce, namely the opening of Sana’a International Airport. More than half of the truce duration has passed (i.e. the full month of April), but civil aircraft are still being denied access, tens of thousands of people are still stranded, while hundreds of children and elderly people die every day of disease, after being prevented from traveling abroad for life-saving treatment. Still more, oil derivatives ships continue to face obstacles, despite obtaining UN pass permits.
- This truce remains infringed and unfair to the rights of the Yemeni people unless the inhuman blockade, which is devoid of any military advantage, is entirely lifted to pave the way for a just and equitable peace process. By this, we send a message to all the free people of the world to put pressure on their governments to stop supporting this injustice against the Yemeni people and to stand united in the face of the oppression against the great Yemeni people.
