- The report of the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, released on June 18, 2021, which included Ansar Allah in the black “List of Shame” of child rights abusers, incurred the discontent of many human rights organizations and activists in various countries of the world.
- This report reflects the deliberate politicization of human rights agendas and their transformation from a UN international mechanism primarily concerned with safeguarding human dignity, protecting children and achieving justice in various parts of the world into a mechanism subject to the interests of major world Powers.
- Such a report embodies the policy of double standards in the resolutions and reports of the United Nations in dealing with the humanitarian file in Yemen. It started with the horrific silence regarding the massacres committed by the War Coalition countries in Yemen, then followed by the failure to blacklist the countries of the Saudi-led War Coalition against Yemen in the “The List of Shame” for violating the Yemeni children’s rights for more than six years, resulting in thousands of dead and wounded children and women which amounted to (13,173), including (7,956) children, and finally ended with releasing this unjust report with a view to falsifying and misrepresenting facts, in favor of their own interests. Unfortunately, this report was issued despite the availability of ample UN-verified evidence of the War Coalition’s responsibility for grave violations and the most heinous crimes committed by them against the Yemeni children and everything related to them such as schools, hospitals, care centers, gardens and parks.
- The United Nations shows double standards in classifying the parties to conflict in Yemen regarding the violation of the rights of Yemeni children through the declarations of some UN officials about the practice of the countries of the Saudi-led Coalition of Aggression. The War Coalition countries put great pressure and threats to cut financial contributions to the UN, if they were not removed from the list of Child rights violators (The List of Shame), and accordingly, the United Nations acquiesced to those threats.
- The United Nations has ignored the situation of Yemeni children in the occupied governorates in southern and eastern Yemen, where they have reached the point of being thrown into wars outside Yemen as mercenaries in such countries as Libya.
- The UN reports are not based upon facts on the ground, as they simply deal with a small part of a comprehensive aggression against Yemen. These reports have restricted the children victims to the military strikes only and completely ignored the children victims who die due to the repercussions of the siege imposed on Yemen.
- The deteriorated situation of the Yemeni children in general is not only due to the military operations and the aerial bombardment by the Aggression forces, but also the victims of the siege imposed on Yemen have repercussions on children exponentially compared to the victims of military operations, especially the air strikes launched by the forces of the Coalition of Aggression against Yemen.
- The reports issued by the United Nations bodies and organizations contradict themselves, as the majority of them emphasize on the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen and the arrival of the situation in Yemen to what they describe as the worst humanitarian situation in the world, holding the countries of the Saudi and Emirati-led Coalition of Aggression more responsible for the tragic situation in Yemen. On the contrary, other reports completely overlooked the Saudi-Emirati role in the catastrophic situation of Yemeni children, such as the report of the UN Secretary-General on children and armed conflict, which discussed the violations of Yemeni children’s rights.
