- The Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMSHA) indicates that the number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) during January to December of the year 2022 has amounted to 1,239,581 IDPs. The Council identified the necessary needs for them, as follows:
- Approximately 1.2 million IDPs are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
- 1.2 million IDPs live in camps that lack the most basic shelter requirements.
- 618 thousand female IDPs live in camps that lack protection, public health services and water.
- 193 thousand displaced children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition, diseases, cold, and lack of healthcare services.
- Almost 114,000 displaced elderly people are at risk of living in camps which are deprived of basic services.
- The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) suffer from many chronic and serious diseases, and the difficulty of obtaining and accessing health services. The Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation points out that the humanitarian response from the United Nations organizations does not meet the needs of the IDPs, who actually require many essential needs in addition to education, support, and empowerment, among other things.
- In fact, eight years of war and siege on Yemen have deprived millions of Yemeni children of education and of a normal life.
