ECONOMIC SITUATION – November 2022

  1. As this month of November approaches its end, there is no sign of a breakthrough in the crisis of salary payment to 1.2 million public service employees, which has been interrupted since the transfer of the CBY operations management from Sana’a to Aden governorate in August 2016. Obviously, the Saudi-led Coalition of war against Yemen and their mercenaries are intransigent; showing no seriousness in resolving this urgent issue, while they keep on looting oil and gas revenues and depositing them to Saudi and Emirati banks. As a result, human suffering has been further exacerbated and poverty and unemployment rates are increasing.
  2. The National Salvation Government (NSG) in Sana’a stipulates that any renewal of the truce should be based on lifting the siege on Yemen and paying the public sector employees’ salaries from oil and gas revenues that the war coalition seizes and uses to finance its ongoing war against Yemen for the eighth year.
  3. The National Salvation Government (NSG) in Sana’a called on the oil companies in the governorates controlled by the Saudi-led War Coalition and its mercenaries to stop all production and export operations. Besides, the Yemeni Armed Forces warned oil tankers not to approach Yemeni ports for the purpose of exporting oil, until an agreement is reached regarding the issue of paying salaries to all public sector employees.
  4. The Saudi-led Coalition keeps on detaining oil derivatives ships, despite completing all the procedures of inspection through the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism in Djibouti (UNVIM) and obtaining UN pass permits confirming that the cargo conforms to the stipulated standards for docking at Hodeidah port, which in turn raises demurrage charges on the ships to be paid by the citizens, and thus intensifies the suffering of the Yemeni people.
  5. Despite their assertion and vigorous follow-up of extending the UN-declared truce, the Saudi-led Coalition of War on Yemen continues to directly target economic facilities and services with a view to achieving the maximum possible extent in increasing the human suffering of the Yemeni people.
