CRIMES AND VIOLATIONS – January 2022

 

  1. During the month of January 2022, the warplanes of the War Coalition, led by the US, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, launched more than 2010 air raids on various governorates of the Republic. Most of the raids were focused on Marib Governorate, which witnessed 932 raids, and Shabwah Governorate, which received 581 airstrikes, as well as Sa’adah Governorate, which received 115 airstrikes. Besides, the Saudi-led Coalition, through their military forces and mercenaries, bombed civilians’ homes with mortar shells and missiles estimated at more than 5,314 shells and 2,890 missiles. Again, citizens’ homes, populated areas and plantations in Sa’adah and Hodeidah governorates were targeted with more than 31 cluster bombs.
  2. In the west coast region of Hodeidah Governorate, the warplanes and militias of the Saudi-led Coalition of war on Yemen are still practicing major violations of the Stockholm Agreement. Monitored violations in this month were estimated at more than 6,685 violations, including airstrikes, intense over-flights, artillery shelling, shootings, and creating fortifications.
  3. On January 21st, 2022, the warplanes of the War Coalition, led by the US, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, targeted the buildings of the Reserve Prison in Sa’adah Governorate with three air raids using US-made GBU-12 Paveway II bombs, weighing 500 pounds. As a result, the prison building was leveled on the heads of its inmates, killing 92 prisoners and wounding more than 236 others with severe injuries.
