CRIMES AND VIOLATIONS — December 2021

  1. During the month of December, the warplanes of the War Coalition, led by the US, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, launched more than 1,419 air raids on various governorates of the Republic. Most of the raids were focused on Marib Governorate, which witnessed 959 raids, and Al-Jawf Governorate, which received 105 airstrikes. Besides, the Saudi-led Coalition, through their military forces and mercenaries, bombed civilians’ homes with shells and missiles estimated at more than 9,242 shells and missiles. Again, citizens’ homes and populated areas were targeted with more than 8 cluster bombs, each containing more than 600 to 800 submunitions and bomblets, which were scattered over wide areas, especially in Hodeidah, Hajjah, Sa’adah and Sana’a governorates.
  2. In the west coast region of Hodeidah Governorate, the warplanes and militias of the Saudi-led Coalition of war on Yemen are still practicing major violations of the Stockholm Agreement. Monitored violations in this month were estimated at more than 13,457 violations, including airstrikes, intense over-flights, artillery shelling, shootings, creating fortifications, and infiltration moves, all of which resulted in the killing of 7 civilians and wounding of 14 others.
  3. The Saudi army, a member of the Coalition of War against Yemen, has targeted civilians’ homes, markets and places where citizens gather in villages in the districts of Sa’adah at the Saudi borders. This led to the destruction of citizens’ homes and their gathering places, and according to estimates, statistics and preliminary data, 283 people were killed and 1,200 others were severely injured during the year 2021, resulting in the destruction of citizens’ homes and their gathering places. Among the dead and wounded citizens, there were 217 of other nationalities (Ethiopians, Sudanese, Somalis, Pakistanis), and the women victims out of the total number reached 27 dead and wounded women.
  4. During the month of December, the Saudi-led Coalition of war on Yemen, through airstrikes, destroyed more than 30 civilian homes, 20 educational schools, 3 health facilities, a poultry farm, an administrative court and the building of the Civil Status Department in Shabwah Governorate. In addition, they burned down and damaged two petrol stations, 3 fuel transport trucks, more than 40 vehicles and more than 20 cars belonging to citizens. Moreover, they wreaked havoc on 4 main roads and bridges, and completely demolished the telecommunications networks in Ibn Aqil area.
  5. The air forces of the Saudi-led Coalition of War on Yemen targeted the apiaries of citizens in the Mablqah area of Shabwah governorate, killing and wounding dozens of citizens, and damaging their apiaries.
  6. The Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FYCCI) denounced the allegations of the Saudi-led Coalition that Al-Sawadiya District Customs Center in Al-Bayda Governorate is being used for military purposes. FYCCI confirmed that the center is a main artery for the flow of food to a wide segment of the Yemeni people. Despite all the evidence showing that the center was never used for military purposes, the Saudi-led Coalition targeted the center with more than 18 air raids and burned down dozens of trucks loaded with food, medicine and other goods belonging to dozens of Yemeni traders.
