Childhood… and the Lack of Health Care! – February 2021

In the hospital garden, Essam spends his morning hours every day without playing. There is no difference between his patient’s chair and the garden swing. Hence, the world has no value in Essam’s eye.

Essam was admitted to a Leukemia treatment center at the age of three. He grew up in his sickbed for a year, and with him his illness was growing too.

Doctors say that Essam’s illness is beyond the capabilities of the medical center, which actually suffers from a severe shortage of medicine due to the stifling blockade imposed by the countries of the war coalition on Yemen, led by the US, KSA and UAE, which prevent the entry of medicine, food, and even access to hospitals.

Doctors say that Essam is in need to travel abroad to conduct a bone marrow transplant. However, unfortunately, the countries of the war coalition on Yemen have imposed a blockade on Sana’a International Airport since August 2017.

This has made matters worse and increased the pains of Essam and his mother, who is crying gravely for the condition of her son, as he stands helplessly in front of a merciless world, and does not see a glimmer of hope in this world.

Essam’s condition is one of thousands of similar other cases! Is it high time now for this dark night to dissipate and for the children of Yemen to live like the other children of the world?
